Quick
Start - Before you really get started
Even though you may be familiar
with medical billing systems,
PracticeMaker® may be somewhat different. Before you start entering
patient
and charges you should make sure that the most common information you
use
is in the following databases:
- Diagnosis Module - There are
12,000+ diagnoses, but not all pertain to your practice. Read
how to create your own "Pick List" of most commonly used diagnoses to
speed data selection!
- Insurances Module - This stores each insurance
company and specific billing information
- Procedures Module - You will find about 8000
procedure
codes in this database. Find those that your practice uses regularly
and
enter your fees. You should have at least two fee schedules, "A" for
self-pay
and "P" or "4" for private insurances.
- PhoneBook Module - This
database stores all the information on each provider and facility
used by the software. Make sure that each billing provider as a
complete record with all provider numbers. Each office provider is
assigned an Office Doctor
Number and there are over 20 "provider numbers" that must
be filled
in a designated for each insurance.
- Claims Printing Module - This module prints or
fills in the CMS-1500 form. Everyone password has the ability to edit
the appearance and alignment of each printable element and field. If
you are familiar with editing in FileMaker Pro go ahead and make any
changes. If you are not familiar we can help you but we will charge you
for this "custom work" at our usual rates.
Once you have reviewed these
chapters and can proceed to enter your charges.
